I write to inform you of the unfolding COVID situation here at Aberlea. We have today with the assistance of the Barwon Public Health Unit reported a COVID outbreak. We had two residents with COVID symptoms who have tested positive and following a round of RAT’s this morning on all residents, we report an additional three positive cases who were showing no symptoms.

All COVID positive residents will now remain isolated until they test negative on a RA test. Residents with COVID will receive antiviral medication to complement their recent vaccinations. If your loved one has tested positive you would have been contacted directly by our team today.

Thank you all for continuing to work with us in implementing the multiple measures we have in place to protect our residents and work through the current situation.

Specifically, we now require N95 face masks to be worn onsite to compliment the RA tests you are asked to undertake prior to entry. I thank you all for your uptake and compliance with this important infection control measure.

Most importantly however, unlike previous outbreaks, visitation remains allowed as an important part of the care we provide here at Aberlea. Our staff will assist you to undertake your visit in a COVID safe manner.
